Saturday the 15th if January 1996 the Cobblers headed to a snowy Upton Park to face West Ham United. The Came saw 1 change from the side that beat Blackburn Rovers 2-1 at the County ground one week prior as Hall replace Martin who dropped to substitute.
The snow had been falling heavy so the Cobblers had to book a hotel near the ground to make sure they where able to be there on time and so they could be safe after the game. Prior to the game the Cobblers spent three days at Broadstairs.
Referee Mr P Walters saw the Cobblers score first as Broadfoot put Brown through and he drew Standen before putting the ball into the net. However before the end of the first half Mr Walters awarded the home side a penalty Coe dropped a shot , Britt headed towards goal,, Everitt fisted over the bar, Brown converted the penalty.
A funny fact was that Joe Kiernan played the whole game in baseball boots and the press recorded an attendance of 20,745.
