Chris Hogg – The Cobblers New Manager

Northampton Town F.C. have appointed former Norwich City F.C. assistant head coach Chris Hogg as the club’s new manager.

Born in Middlesbrough on 12 March 1985, Hogg began his youth career with York City F.C. before joining Ipswich Town F.C. in 2001 for a compensation fee reported at £150,000.  

Playing Career

Hogg was a defender who made senior appearances for:

  • Boston United F.C. (loan)
  • Hibernian F.C.
  • Inverness Caledonian Thistle F.C.
  • Needham Market F.C.

Career stats:

  • 186 senior appearances
  • 6 senior goals  

During his six years with Hibernian, Hogg made 143 league appearances and scored three goals. He also captained the club and won the Scottish League Cup in 2007. He was voted Hibernian Player of the Year for the 2007–08 season.  

At international level, Hogg represented England from Under-15 to Under-19 level, captaining the England U15 side.  

Coaching Career

Hogg retired from playing in 2015 and moved into coaching with Ipswich Town F.C., working across the academy and first-team setup.  

He later joined Newcastle United F.C. as an Under-23 coach before becoming assistant head coach to Liam Manning at:

  • Milton Keynes Dons F.C.
  • Oxford United F.C.
  • Bristol City F.C.
  • Norwich City F.C.

Hogg helped MK Dons challenge for promotion in League One and was also part of Bristol City’s Championship play-off push before moving to Norwich City in 2025.  

The Cobblers hand Hogg his first permanent managerial role in senior football.
