The Cobblers a looking to do the double of Wigan Athletic after earlier this season the Cobblers beat Wigan 3-2 at the DW Stadium. A 2-0 lead at half time with goals coming from Rose and Hoskins.
3 goals came in the second half as Wigan where Wigan was awarded a penalty on the 63rd minute, just over 10 minutes later James equalised for Wigan. On the 66th minute substitute Celeb Chukwuemeka scored the winner after making no mistakes inside the area.
Putting things right
The last time the Cobblers best Wigan at Sixfields was in 2001 under Kevin Wilkin, when the Cobblers best wigan 1-0 thanks to Jamie Forrester who scored just before half time.
Wigan’s last four visits to Sixfields have all resulting in them taking the win and the Cobblers not scoring any goals. The Cobblers will look to put that right after a positive 0-0 draw v Accringtonn on Saturday.
Reunited
Ryan Watson will reunite with his old side after winning the Leauge two playoffs with the Cobbler’s last season. Ryan started a footballing career at Wigan in their academy. After joining them from Everton however, he never made an appearance for them.
Battle at the bottom
With the Cobblers sitting in relegation zone with the Cobblers on level points with Bristol Rovers and Swindon. A win for Wigan would put them on level points with the Cobblers.
Swindon, Bristol Rovers and Burton are all playing on Tuesday night so we will need to take a close look at the table.
