REPLAY WINNERS FACE MANCHESTER UNITED TIE

 

The Cobblers wherein the FA Cup fifth round draws for the first time since 1970. The Cobblers last featured in the 5th round when they faced Manchester United at the County Ground, losing the tie 8-2 as George Best scored six goals.

At 7.20 pm on Monday 27th January 2020, the draw was made, and ball number 6 Northampton Town or Derby County was picked out by former England international Glen Johnson. Former England international and cup winner Teddy Sheringham picked out ball number 1, Manchester United.

There are no replays in the fifth round of the FA Cup this season and ties will take place in midweek at the start of March. Any ties that are level after 90 minutes will go to extra time and, if necessary, a penalty shoot-out to determine a winner on the night.
