Ivan Toney

Toney made his way through the Cobblers academy in 2012 making over 50 appearances scoring 11 goals before being sold to Newcastle where he went out on loan to Shrewsbury where he made 19 appearances and scored 6 goals.

James Collins

Collins joined Shrewsbury in 2015 where he made 66 appearances and screeds 22 goals in the year he was with them. He rejoined Shrewsbury in 2014 where he stayed for two year and made another 68 appearances and scored 22 goals. He came on loan to the Cobblers this time in our title winning season and made 21 appearances and scores 8 goals.

Simon Sturridge

Simon came to the Cobblers in 1999 He played 19 times for the Cobblers helping them gain promotion in 1999–2000 and ended his career with an 11-game spell on loan at Shrewsbury Town.

Bryn Morris

In a two year spell at Shrewsbury he played 43 times, including in the 2017/18 League 1 play off semi finals and final as well as making another 21 appearances on loan at Wycombe Wanderers.

Kelvin Langmead

Kelvin joined Shrewsbury in 2004 where he stayed for 6 years making over 230 appearances scoring 18 goals. Kelvin joined the Cobblers on loan from Peterborough in 2011 before signing a contract in 2012 he made 79 goals for the Cobblers and scored 11 goals.

Aaron Pierre

On 21 July 2017, Pierre signed for League One club Northampton Town on a three-year contract.He won the club’s Player of the Season award for the 2018–19 season. Aaron made 60 appearances and scored 6 goals.

Aaron joined Shrewsbury in January 2019, January 2020, Pierre scored an 89th-minute winning goal in a 1–0 home win against Championship side Bristol City in an FA Cup third round replay to set up a fourth round tie with Premier League giants Liverpool.

John Gayle

February 1997 for a fee of £25,000. He had played 26 times in the league for Stoke, scoring 4 goals, with almost half of his appearances as a substitute.

He remained at Northampton for over a year, scoring 7 times in 48 league games, before joining Scunthorpe United on a free transfer on 16 June 1998. 4 goals in 49 league games followed for the Iron, before he was on the move yet again, this time a free transfer taking him to Shrewsbury Town on 25 November 1999. Gayle played a role in keeping the Shrews in the league, injuries limiting him to 19 league games in which he scored twice.
