Steve Terry

Steve the son of an England Amateur International, spent nine seasons as a full time professional at Watford helping them into division one and winning an F.A. cup runners up medal in 1984.

He joined Hull in 1988 but after just eighteen months he asked for a move south and Graham Carr brought him to Northampton in a hope he could bolster the defence.

Steve stayed another four seasons playing under another three managers before being released and spending several seasons in non-league football including a spell as assistant manager of Enfield.

He worked in chicken packing factory before starting up a transport company and helping his wife in her Bride’s shop.

The reason he always wore his headband was because he once clashed heads wirh John Fashanu and the wound opened up easily

Matt Duke

He joined Hull on 23 July 2004 from Burton for £20,000, which could have risen to £60,000 depending on appearances. He was a regular starter at Burton, having made 78 league appearances for them in his three seasons at the club.

In June 2013 Duke signed a two-year contract with The Cobblers. He made 76 appearances for the Cobblers.

Laurie Dudfield

Martin Wilkinson signed Laurie on loan from Hull City at the tail end of the 2002-03 season. He made it clear that he would be happy to sign for the club on permanent basis which he did the following season.

Cobbler’s manager Wilkinson drafted in several new players and Laurie had to fight for a first team spot.

He joined Southend but around a year later he was back at Sixfields on a non-contract basis but after a few weeks joined Boston.

Hull City paid a record fee of £190,000 for Laurie a club record at the time.

Peter Taylor transferred Laurie twice! From Leicester to Hull and Hull to Northampton.

Laurie was part of the Nottingham Forest community team when he was offered a coaching post with Boston in April 2011.

Laurie was released by Corby before his contract expired but decided to retire as he got a job as community officer for Nottingham Forest. He later assisted Boston for a short while in 2010-11 but despite being offered a contract decided to concentrate at his job with Nottingham Forest

In 2011 he was appointed manager of Quorn. Laurie set up a company that arranged soccer tours and soccer clinics abroad.

He made his professional debut on 9 August 2011 for Hull City in the League Cup in 2-0 loss to Macclesfield. At the end of 2012–13 season, he was released by Hull.

In August 2012 Danny came to the Cobblers on a months loan. On 2 October, his loan was extended until 5 January 2013. He returned to Hull with 21 appearances.

Jamie came to Northampton after an unhappy time in Holland with Ultrecht where he made just one appearance.

He firstly had a loan spell at Walsall that came to Nothing then joined the Cobblers where he netted six goals in ten games at the tail end of the season they won promotion to league two.

Jamie was bought for a record fee at the time and despite the club struggling over the next two seasons the goals still flowed for Jamie however the arrival of new manager Terry Fenwick saw Jamie moved on to Hull to ‘reduce the wage bill’.

Today Jamie runs a soccer school in Lincoln and played for Lincoln United and Lincoln Moorland railway before retiring and setting up a business called community Business solutions helping businesses to save money on their energy Bills. He also coaches youngsters.

Emerton signed a one-year deal with the Cobblers. Two days later, he made his professional debut, in a 0–1 away defeat against York City. Emerton made just 16 appearances for the Cobblers.

Andy Holt

Andy was one of John Gorman’s first signings and became the club’s long throw expert.

When he signed for Hull at £150,000 he became the 4th, highest transfer in the club’s history.

Andy missed the start of the 2001-02 season when he dropped a box of tiles on his toes.

The loan move from Hull to Barnsley involved Carl Regan moving the other way

Andy won every club ‘player of the year’ honour in his first season at Wrexham.

Steve Massey

Steve made his debut for Stockport as a 16-year old netting his first goal for them three months later.

In four seasons he made regular first team appearances until John Benson paid £5,000 to bring him to Bournemouth.

Again. He was a regular first team although his scoring rate dropped with the South Coast club.

He moved on to Peterborough with Geoff Butler but stayed just six months before joining neighbours Northampton.

Alec Stock had recommended Steve to Bill Dodgin while the striker was at Bournemouth but the Cobblers manager at the time wasn’t interested.

When Clive Walker took control again Stock suggested Steve could help the side score goals and they began to flow.

In a season and a half he netted 30 league and cup goals and soon attracted the interest of third division Hull.

Northampton asked for £60,000, Hull offered £8,000!

The tribunal was called in and they set the fee at £20,000 plus half of any sell on fee.

Hull won promotion from division Three in his second season but left after he was told that he could not be guaranteed a first team place in division Two.

Despite a short but successful stay at Cambridge Steve was released along with five other players.

He was considering a move to his first club Stockport County when ex-Cobbler Dixie McNeil, offered him a place at Wrexham where he was manager.

His stay was short but successful. In two seasons he won a Welsh cup winners medal and played (and scored), in Europe.

However, injury blighted his career.

Steve became player manager of Truro and for a time worked as a an administrator for a Circus before running a holiday camp and later the Landdown Holiday Park

In 2009 took over as manager of Buckland leaving in 2011,in 2013 he was back in charge at Truro
