10th April 2004 – Hull City 2 Cobblers 3
On this day in 2004 the Cobblers travelled to the K.C Stadium to face Hull City in front of a 18,017 crowd in Division 3.
The Cobblers side saw two changes from the side that beat Oxford 2-1 at Sixfields a week prior as Willmott & Sabin came in for Low & Taylor.
The first 5 minutes of the match saw a host of action culminating in Richards taking the ball off Joseph and scoring after 112 seconds to put the Cobblers in front, however the lead didn’t last for long, as Elliott was first to react to a pass across goal and toe-poked the ball home to make it 1-1.
The cobblers took the lead in the game before half time as a Sampson header bounced off Thelwell and fell to Sabin who scored to make it 2-1. then 10 minutes later Smith made an inch perfect pass to Sabin who made an angled run & scored.
A consolation goal came for Hull as Dawson scored with a curling with a 25 yard free kick after Sampson was judged to handled.
