Gillingham visited Sixfields Stadium on January 14th 1995 in Division 3  where Ian Atkins took charge of his first game as manager of the Cobblers. There was 3 changes to the side that lost 2-1 to Wigan the previous Saturday. New boys Darren Hughes and Chris Burns plus  Harmon replace Skelly, Curtis and Harrison. Darren Hughes joins on a free transfer from Port Vale, Chris Burns from Swansea.

Ex-Cobbler Mick Bodley was in the away side the goals of the game came late in the game as Gillingham defender Arnott handled Grayson’s cross and Referee Mr Holbrook pointed to the spot and awarded the Cobblers with a penalty and Harmon scored from the spot for the Cobblers. 

The second goal of the game came in the 83rd minute as Brown’s cross was collected by Trott who turned and scored and the crowd of 5,529 saw the Cobblers beat Gillingham 2-0. Gillingham was fined £300 for damaging a door at Sixfields.
