The Cobblers ended a barren spell stretching back to November 21 of the current season and a history despair at Griffin Park going back to 1954!

On top of that, The Bees had not lost in eight games. Peter Gleasure, after a spell of uncertainty, was magnificent.

His save to foil Wayne Turner was a seasonal high Generations of Cobblers sides had toiled without success for over 30 years making it the most notorious of away trips.

All that ended when Chard drove home through a  defensive wall 10 minutes into the second half to complete another historical fact – the first double over Brentford since 1926.
