17/10/20 – Plymouth 2 The Cobblers 1

Watts volleyed in George Cooper’s corner from the right at the far post to clinch victory.

Powerhouse striker Frank Nouble opened the scoring for Plymouth, powering home a header at the far post after Connor Grant’s superb cross from the right.

Northampton levelled on 62 minutes when Sam Hoskins put Ricky Korboa in down the left and he fired past Michael Cooper.

Town number one Steve Arnold made a brilliant save in the top corner, flapping over George Cooper’s goal-bound 25-yard strike.

Home keeper Cooper made a brilliant save to turn over Michael Harriman’s thumping 10-yard strike after being teed up by Korboa.

Korboa levelled after 62 minutes and Harriman went close in Town’s next attack.

Stung by the goal, Argyle responded with Nouble sending a glancing near-post header just over from a corner.

Player of the match Cooper went close from the edge of the box and then sent a pacey cross for Nouble to head just over the angle as the greens went in search of a winner before Watts struck.

31/08/19 – The Cobblers 3 Plymouth 1

The Cobblers were ahead on seven minutes when Sam Hoskins’ cross hit an arm and Ryan Watson stuck away the spot-kick, but it was 1-1 just three minutes later as Danny Mayor was fouled and Joe Riley drilled the free-kick under the wall.

Northampton were back in front midway through the first half though as Hoskins sent in a teasing low cross and Williams stretched out a leg to divert into the bottom corner.

Argyle’s Gary Sawyer headed over from underneath the crossbar and Nicky Adams hit the post with a Northampton free-kick before the home side made it 3-1 just shy of half-time thanks to Williams, who volleyed home another Hoskins cross.

Alex Palmer produced a brilliant save to thwart Hoskins in first-half stoppage-time and though Plymouth pressed in the second half, Byron Moore skied over from just a few yards out and David Cornell brilliantly denied George Cooper late on.

21/04/18 – The Cobblers 2 Plymouth 0

Goals either side of half-time were enough to hand the Cobblers only a second win in 12 games and bring them to within two points of safety, denting Plymouth’s hopes of a play-off place.

Northampton took the game to their in-form visitors from the first whistle and should have had the lead when Sam Hoskins capitalised on a mistake from Gary Sawyer before shooting straight at Remi Matthews.

Hoskins was denied by Matthews for a second time but, seconds later, John-Joe O’Toole poked in Daniel Powell’s low cross to hand the hosts a deserved lead at half-time.

The Cobblers were even more dominant in the second half and duly added to their lead just after the hour-mark when, after Matt Crooks went close, defender Zak Vyner turned Powell’s cross into his own net.

The home side had further chances to rack up a more convincing victory but Powell, Hoskins and O’Toole were all denied by the outstanding Matthews.

21/11/17 – Plymouth 2 The Cobblers 0

Both Bradley goals were headers from set pieces as the hosts bounced back from Saturday’s 4-0 defeat against Oxford.

At the other end, Joel Grant’s powerful 12th-minute angled effort looked destined for goal but was deflected just wide by Brendon Moloney.

David Fox provided the first exquisite delivery from wide on the right some 40 yards out for unmarked Bradley to put Plymouth 1-0 up after 31 minutes.

Bradley doubled his tally stooping to head home at the far post from a Graham Carey free-kick from seven minutes after the break.

The towering central defender came close to completing his hat-trick from a Carey cross minutes later but his header ran down the outside of the side netting.

Cobblers substitute Dean Bowditch went close to coming up with a reply going into the final moments.

Chris Long missed a golden opportunity to reduce the deficit when he went through one-on-one with Argyle’s on-loan Norwich City goalkeeper Remi Matthews, firing just wide.

12/01/16 – Plymouth 1 The Cobblers 2

Northampton skipper Marc Richards swept in Northampton’s second goal on 58 minutes following a slick passing move and after Plymouth failed to clear their lines effectively.

James Collins put Northampton ahead on 38 minutes with a simple tap-in after tackling Plymouth keeper Luke McCormick as he received right-back Kelvin Mellor’s back pass.

Argyle substitute Gregg Wylde slid in to convert Ryan Brunt’s 83rd-minute cross to make it 2-1.

On 36 minutes, McCormick had made a superb diving save to keep out John Joe O’Toole’s thumping 25-yard shot as it skimmed off the muddy Home Park pitch.

In a half of few chances, impressive Town striker Richards went close with an early header from Brendan Moloney’s cross from the right. Plymouth responded with recalled Reuben Reid’s 21st-minute header flapped over by Town number one Adam Smith.

Argyle’s best spell came following Collins’ opener with in-form target man Ryan Brunt flashing a header just wide from Jake Jervis’ corner.

Ricky Holmes looped a header just wide at the start of the second half, with McCormick beaten.

22/08/15 – The Cobblers 0 Plymouth 2

Argyle shaded the opening exchanges and Peter Hartley headed over from a corner, but the Cobblers gradually got into the contest and Nicky Adams tested Luke McCormick with a low drive.

Yet it was Argyle who broke the deadlock in the 39th minute when Ryan Watson lost possession and Carey raced clear to beat the advancing Adam Smith.

Ryan Cresswell headed over just before the break as the Cobblers tried to get back on level terms but Plymouth substitute Ryan Brunt flashed a shot just wide after the restart.

Argyle twice went close in quick succession when Carey cut inside and his rasping drive was tipped on to the bar by Smith, who then denied Jervis with a point-blank stop from the ensuing corner.

The visitors always threatened a second goal and Smith again had to be alert to thwart Jervis while McCormick saved Cresswell’s header at the other end.

But Northampton struggled to create chances and Jervis deservedly doubled Argyle’s lead in the 71st minute when he fired home from a tight angle following Carey’s corner.

Josh Lelan got a second caution in stoppage time to round off a poor day for the home side.
