The First Meeting – 1901
The first-ever meeting between the sides came on 9th November 1901, when Northampton travelled to Swindon’s County Ground in the Southern League.
It proved to be a memorable first encounter for the Cobblers as they returned home with an impressive 3-0 victory.
First Home Meeting – 1902
Swindon made their first trip to Northampton on 22nd February 1902, with the sides meeting at Northampton’s County Ground in the Southern League.
The Cobblers recorded an emphatic 8-0 victory, with Swindon eventually finishing bottom of the league that season.
The Most Recent Meeting – 2022
The last meeting between the clubs at Sixfields came on 29th December 2022.
Jon Brady’s Cobblers were beaten 2-1 by Swindon, although Northampton had enjoyed the reverse scoreline earlier that season, winning 2-1 at the County Ground.
FA Cup Meetings
Despite their long history against one another, Northampton and Swindon have met just once in the FA Cup.
That came in December 1952, when the Cobblers travelled to Swindon and suffered a 2-0 defeat.
