History Never Forgotten

FLASHBACK – Northampton 4 Swansea 2

Swansea City were the visitors to Sixfields on the 15th Match 2008 where 5,926 fans turned out to see the Welsh side face the Cobblers.

The first goal of the game came within fourteen minutes of the game as Akinfenwa headed down a Jones corner to Poul Hubertz hit a very good right-footed shot low through the middle from the centre from 6 yards. 

After an attacking Northampton side the Goals kept coming as a Daniel Jones corner was turned into his own net by Alan Tate. 

Three Minutes later the Cobblers went three up, as Ferrie Bodde commits a foul on Ryan Gilligan resulting in a penalty for the Cobblers. Poul Hubertz powers the penalty kick with his right foot to the lower left corner and scores!! The goalkeeper guessed correctly but could not stop the shot.

Just before halftime the away side got a goal back Mark Bunn saved Jason Scotland’s first shot but the Swansea striker followed up. Halftime came and the score was 3-1 to the Cobblers. 

The second d half started and the Cobblers continued the way the was in the first Danny Jackman hits a very good left-footed shot to the upper left corner from the right penalty area and scored.

A consolation goal for the visitors came in the 83rd minute     Jason Scotland hits a very good right footed shot to the lower left corner from the centre penalty area and scored.
