Cobblers Past

History Never Forgotten

McWilliams made his 100th Cobblers appearance v Plymouth on Tuesday night. (2nd March 2021) Cobblers Past takes a look back at his time with the Cobblers so far.

Shaun has made 82 starts and 18 shubsitue appearances for the Cobblers since 2017.

His first ever competitive appearance for the Cobblers was on April 1st 2017 away at Spotland a 1-1 draw. Shaun came on for John Joe O’Toole on the 66th minute and got the Cobblers going to earn an equaliser on the 90th minute thanks to Paul Anderson.

His first start for the Cobblers game away from the Town at Gigg Lane, Which I’m sure is a game that Shaun will try and forget. A 3-0 loss for the Cobblers in league one. This was Shaun’s first 90 minutes for the Club.

In his first season he made 5 appearances, 3 Shubsitue appearances and 2 starts. His second Start was his first home full 90 minutes that saw Gillingham the visitors to the PTS Academy Stadium. The game didn’t see any goals for either side.

In the following season he made 22 appearances. Getting action in his first Nene Derby action, maybe getting too involved in the game as he went into referees Roger East book for his first Cobblers booking.

The bookings kept coming this season with seven for the 22 games he made. The following season 2018/19 he was in the squad again making another 29 appearances for his home town. Getting 7 yellow cards.

His first goal for the Club came in September 2019 at Sixfeilds in a 2-2 draw v Crawley Town. Shaun goal came in the 64th minute.

His 100th game came at the PTS Academy stadium v Plymouth in Leauge One. Which saw the Cobblers get there first win of 2021 after 2 goals from Ryan Watson.
