Cobblers Past and Northampton Town Football Club are deeply saddened to learn the passing of former player Ron Newman last month.
Ron Newman made his debut for the Cobblers eighteen months after joining the Cobblers, and scored with his family looking on.
He then found it hard to hold a regular place in the first team with so many ‘comings and goings’ in the forward line.
When Northampton signed Charlie Dutton from Coventry Ron moved the other way but found little success at Highfieldroad. A season at Torquay saw him appear just four times in the first team.
Ron returned to the area and played for several non-league sides whilst working as an insurance man for Britannic.
As a Schoolboy Ron represented Wales at Rugby not football.
We would like to send our condolences to Ron’s family.
