Ahead of Saturday nights game v MK Dons, we look at players that have played for both the Cobblers and MK Dons. How many can you remember?
Nathan Abbey
Nathan started his career at Luton Town in 1995 where he made his way to the first team in 1999 where he became Lutons first team choice goalkeeper. Nathan left Luton in 2001 and he made 55 appearances. Nathan joined the Cobblers from Chesterfield in 2002 and signed a contract extension until the end of the season,but struggled to establish himself and was released at the end of the season having played only eight games.
Nathan joined the MK Dons from Brentford in 2007 He made his debut for MK dons coming on as a sub against Cheltenham Town when regular keeper Willy Gueret was sent off. After two seasons he was released by MK Dons.
George Baldock
George started his career at MK Dons from there youth set up Baldock made his first-team debut for Milton Keynes Dons on 8 May 2010 in the League One clash with Brighton at Stadium MK.
Between 2011 -2015 George made many loan appearances for many clubs. One of those clubs was the Cobblers in 2011 George came to the Cobblers on a months loan making only 5 appearances.
Dean Bowditch
Dean started his footballing career at Ipswich town in 2003 Where he made over 70 appearances scoring 20 goals. He came to the cobblers from Ipswich in November 2008 he made 11 appearances scoring two goals. He joined MK Dons in 2011 where he was until 2017 making 192 appearance scoring 37 goals. Dean rejoin the couples in 2017 Making 31 appearances and scoring three goals.
Ben Harding
Ben Harding was with MK Dons in 2004 until 2007 while at MK Dons he made many loan appearances for many clubs. Ben made 36 appearances and scored 6 goals for MK Dons.
Ben came on loan to the Cobblers in 2012 making 5 appearances before singing on a permanent 18 month contract on deadline day. Where he made 42 appearances scoring 2 goals.
Lee Harper
Lee joined the Cobblers in 2002 where he stayed for until 2007 making 152 appearances in 2006 he made a loan spell for MK Dons making 11 appearances.
Jonny Hayes
Jonny was on loan to MK Dons from Reading in 2007 making 11 appearances for the club. Jonny came on loan to the Cobblers from Leicester City in 2009 making 11 appearances. In October, Jonny joined Cheltenham Town on a trial period, with a view to a loan move, a move which was confirmed on 20 October 2008.
Richard Johnson
Richard came on loan to the Cobblers form Watford in 2003, he came on to the Cobblers to gain fitness, he scored 1 goal in 6 games. Richard also went on Loan to MK Dons in 2005 from QPR, he made just two appearances for the Dons before moving to Australia.
Mathias Kouo-Doumbe
Mathias joined MK Dons in 2009 from Plymouth Argle. In his 4 years at MK Dons he made over 120 appearances scoring 11 goals.
He made 51 appearances in the 2010 -2011 campaign as new boss Karl Robinson took MK to the play-off semi-finals, where they were knocked out by Posh He signed a new two-year contract in June 2011.
In September 2013 Aidy Boothroyd brought Mathis to the Cobblers, Aidy said “He’s got more cuts and bruises on his head than I’ve ever seen in a centre-half, which is a good sign. He’s brave, he’s calm under pressure and he’ll get his share of goals.” Mathias made 32 appearances for the Cobblers.
Carl Magnay (Header Image)
Carl came to the Cobblers and the Dons in the same year, 2009 on loan from Chelsea. Making only 2 appearances for both sides. He reportedly only played 7 minutes for MK. He made his debut in the 1–0 defeat at Millwall.
Nick McKoy
Nick joined MK Dons in 2004 making 16 appearances until he was realised in 2006. Nick joined the Cobblers in 2011 from Kettering Town, Nick was sent off on 13 September 2011 against AFC Wimbledon, and this followed his sending off in his previous game. Nick had is contact cancelled after 6 appearances.
Izale McLeod
Izale joined MK Dons for the second time from Portsmouth in 2013 he came on loan to the Cobblers in this year making 4 appearance scoring 1 goal. However his loan was cut short due to an injury suffered in a 1–0 defeat in the hands of Burton Albion on Boxing Day 2013. He made just under 50 appearances for MK in his second spell.
Lee Nicholls
Goalkeeper Lee came on Lon to the Cobblers from Wigan in 2012. In total, Nicholls made 51 appearances for Northampton Town, achieving 20 clean sheets before returning to Wigan. In 2016 Lee joined MK Dons where he still is today making over 130 Appearances.
Clive Platt
Clive joined MK from Peterborough in 2005 where he made 102 Appearances scoring 27 goals. In 2012 Clive joined the Cobblers making 47 appearance and scoring 6 goals. He scored his first goal for the club in the league cup second round match against Wolverhampton Wanderers.
Alex Revell
Alex joined MK in 2016 where he made 17 appearances scoring 4 goals before joining the Cobblers. He scored his first goal for Northampton in a 1–1 draw against Charlton on August. Alex made 47 appearances for the Cobblers.
Ryan Watson
Ryan is currently in his third spell at the Club his first in league one. He first joined the Club in 2014 on loan from Leicester. He rejoined again in 2015 on Loan from Leicester. In 2018 he signed for MK Dons making 22 appearance Before rejoining the Cobblers for a third time, where he scored in the Play of finals to reach league one.
Brendon Dickenson
Brendon joined the Cobblers on loan from Brighton in 2014 making just under 15 appearance scoring 1 goal. His Cobblers goal came in a 2–0 win against Hartlepool United on 22 February. He joined MK Dons in 2019 on a free transfer from Colchester he only made 7 appearances for the Dons scorning 0 goals. Before leaving for Exeter in the summer of 2020.
Hiram Boateng
Hiram came on loan to the Cobblers from Crystal Palace in 2016, making 16 appearances in this time with us before leaving for Exeter. In 2019 Boateng joined up with former manager Paul Tisdale at Milton Keynes Dons, in a deal that would see Exeter City receive compensation due to the player’s age. Hiram is currently on loan at Cambridge.
Lawson D’Ath
Lawson joined the Cobblers in 2014 where he stayed for 3 years. He scored twice on his debut five days later in a 3–2 win away to Wolverhampton Wanderers in the League Cup first round. D’Ath finished the season with four goals from 46 appearances, as Northampton won the League Two title and promotion to League One.
He Joined MK Dons in June 2018 on a 1 year contract making 15 appearance until he left before his contract ended due to him not getting enough games.
Chris Lines
Chris was on Loan to MK Dons from Sheffield Wednesday in 2013 making 16 appearances. He joined the cobblers in 2019 where he made 35 appearance and scored 3 goals before joining Stevenage in January 2021.
Chris Long
Chris made his first ever loan spell with MK Dons in 2014 making only 4 appearances scoring 1 goal. Be joined the Cobblers on loan from Burnley in 2017 making 38 Appearances scoring 9 goals. He now plays for Motherwell with on loan striker Harry Smith.
