Born in Sheffield, Calvert-Lewin came through the ranks at hometown club Sheffield United, making his senior debut in a 1-1 draw at Leyton Orient in April 2015.
The following August, he joined Northampton Town on loan and scored eight goals in 26 appearances for the League Two team. During his time at the Cobblers many fans will remember him for scoring an 87th minute winner in the clubs FA Cup tie v Northwich Victoria. Ad he then became the youngest player to score in all 4 competitions aged 18 years 273 days.
Capable of playing as both as a striker and in midfield, Calvert-Lewin made two outings for the Blades in 2016/17 before finalising his move to Goodison Park.
After several fine performances and five goals for the Under-23s, then-manager Ronald Koeman handed Calvert-Lewin his first taste of Premier League action during a memorable 2-1 victory over Arsenal under the floodlights in December 2016.
Calvert-Lewin’s first start – against Southampton – soon followed but his involvement was cut short when he suffered ankle ligament damage and was forced off after just 12 minutes.
Following more than two months on the sidelines, the attacker came straight back into the first-team fold and netted his maiden Everton goal in a 4-0 win over Hull City.
Calvert-Lewin scored the winning goal for England against Venezuela in the Under-20 World Cup final in summer 2017, before making an exceptional start to the 2017/18 campaign, delivering a succession of powerful and skilful performances in the Toffees attack.
Indeed, the season would prove to be a breakthrough campaign for Calvert-Lewin. He made the most appearances of any Everton outfield player (44) and scored eight times.
His ability as a creative force, meanwhile, was highlighted by his six assists during the season – the highest number of any Blues player.
Calvert-Lewin collected 17 England Under-21 caps and scored even goals following a debut in September 2017, barely three months after his World Cup-winning goal in South Korea.
The appointment of caretaker manager Duncan Ferguson in December 2020 prompted a scoring burst from Calvert-Lewin, whose two goals against Chelsea in Ferguson’s first match in charge ushered in a spell of 10 in 13 league matches.
In March 2020, three months after Ancelotti’s arrival, Calvert-Lewin penned that deal to keep him at Everton until at least summer 2025.
