Northampton Town takes on Derby County in the fourth round of the Emirates FA Cup live on BT Sport 1 in the club’s first appearance at this stage of the competition since 2004. A capacity crowd is expected for the 8pm kick-off. Just down the road, the Northampton Saints are also at home and are also live on BT Sport (BT Sport 2.) The Saints game kicks off at 7.45 pm. What a night for the town.
It’s a tough record that the Cobblers have against Derby;
Games Played – 10
Won – 0
Drawn – 4
Lost – 6
The last time we played Derby County was in 1966 under Dave Bowen in 4-3 loss in the league.
Wayne Rooney
Wayne Rooney may possibly return to the Sixfields pitch 4 years after his last visit, from when he played for Manchester United in the league cup. Here is what Wayne Rooney said about the game.
“We have to be professional on Friday,” Rooney told RamsTV. “Watching how they play, they go direct a lot. They play with three centre backs and two strikers who go direct and make it tough for you.
“Second balls will be important tomorrow night and we have to be ready. We have to be ready to take a few kicks and be ready for the physical battle.
“Hopefully the time will then come for us to try and show our quality.”
Rooney, now 34, has won almost everything there is to win in the game, including the FA Cup when his United side Crystal Palace in the 2016 final, but his hunger for success remains undiminished.
“It’s a fantastic competition and I’ve been fortunate enough to win it,” he added. “I have also lost in two finals which isn’t nice but it’s a competition I’m very fond of. I love it.
“It’s given me my greatest moment as a fan, in 1995 when Everton won it, beating Manchester United. It’s always a competition I love playing in, and it will be a tough game tomorrow night.
“Everyone knows what the FA Cup is. It draws so many surprises over the years, so we need to make sure we are not one of those teams who suffer that.”
Former Moulton School pupil Jack Marriott is facing a race against time to be fit to play for Derby County against the Cobblers in the game.
Marriott, who grew up in Brixworth and used to watch the Cobblers as a youngster, has been sidelined with a thigh injury since the Rams’ Sky Bet Championship win over Barnsley back on January 2.
The former Peterborough United and Luton Town striker will be desperate to get back into the frame for the clash against what he considers to be his home town club, and Derby boss Phillip Cocu revealed there is a chance the 25-year-old could be involved.
Cocu was asked if Marriott could be available to fa§ce Town, and the Dutchman said: “I expect Jack will return to training on Monday, I don’t know if he can do everything with the team.”It depends what he can do with the team, he will need a few days training.”

Make sure you buy yourself a match night program as I look back on one of the most memorable games of the 25-year history at Sixfields.
After listening to a suggestion from supporters and with approval from the Dunn family, we will be showing a picture of Harry Dunn on the big screen in the 19th minute tomorrow night for any NTFC or @dcfcofficial supporters who wish to pay tribute pic.twitter.com/1Nu0J7VsJI
