Chris Wilder brought Nicky to the club on May 22nd 2015 as the Cobblers brought him for a undisclosed fee.
Nicky’s first ever game for the Cobblers was at The Memorial Stadium with a 1-0 win, with the only goal of the game coming from John-Joe O’Toole. Nicky did however receive a yellow in the 25th minute of the game. He only played 88 minutes in his first game as he made way for Paul Corry.
Nicky’s first goal for the Cobblers came in October at Sixfields in the league v Hartlepool United where he scored from a direct corner on 21 minutes, 17 minutes earlier in the game he assisted Marc Richards in scoring the first goal of the game.
After having a great performance in his first game he start the next 30 league games. There was only 2 league games in the 2015/16 season were Nicky wasn’t in the squad at all.
In the 2015/16 season which we all remember well Nicky was only involved in 5 league losses. In this season Nicky was involved in all 4 FA Cup games where the Cobblers reached the third round after beating Coventry 2-1 at the Ricoh Arena on November 7th. His was also involved in the 3-2 comeback v Non league side Northwich Victoria. Nicky got a assist in both of these games.
His last game in his first spell for the Cobblers was the final game of the League 2 champions winning season was the 2-1 away win at Fratton Park, where again he got a assist.
In Nicky’s first spell at the Cobblers he made 45 Appearances, scoring 3 goals and making 15 assists in all competitions.
Nicky left the club for Keith Curles Carlisle United for an Undisclosed fee.
On the 5th June 2019 Nicky Adams returned to Northampton on a 3 year contract after leaving Bury the season before after there troubled some season.
Nicky’s second spell debut 2019/20 wasn’t as successful as his first a 1-0 defeat at home to Walsall. Nicky’s first Assist of the 19/20 season was on matchday eleven at the Globe Arena with a 2-2 draw.
His First goal of the 19/20 campaign came in our record matching FA Cup campaign. The goal came in the round 3 match v Burton in a 4-2 win, The goal came for Nicky in the 10 minute while his assist came just before half time of the game.
Nicky was involved in all 3 of the 2019/20 play offs and played over 207 minutes in the games, coming of injured at just 31 minutes in the Wembley final.
His 100th game for the Cobblers was a 4-2 penalties win over Stevenage in the Papa Johns Trophy.
So far this season he’s his made 9 appearances however still airing for his first goal and assist. But this is one hell of an achievement. 2 spells, 2 promotions, 6 goals and 31 assists and he’s still not finished yet.
