I asked Neil a few questions about his career and his time at Northampton.
What was your favourite moment from your time at Northampton and why?
Favourite moment was playing at Wembley. It was a childhood dream and to then go on and win was so special.
Who was the craziest player you played with and why?
I think that might have been Woody, a really funny bloke who always had a joke. Although I do remember some idiot diving into a pile of snow lol.
You’ve played for many clubs throughout your career, what’s the best thing about that?
Playing for so many clubs meant I made so many friends, not just players and staff but fans as well.
At your time at Northampton, you scored the fastest ever hat-trick ever by a Northampton player within 5 mins, What’s the one thing that Sticks out from that day and why?
Obviously I knew I’d scored a hat-trick but afterwards I had to do an interview (not my favourite thing) but it was only then I knew it was a 5-minute hat-trick as I’d scored either side of half time. To find that out was amazing.
When you were in the team that beat Swansea City 1-0 thanks to John Frain, what was the best thing about that day?
The whole day was brilliant, but when the final whistle went and you realized that what you have worked all season for has happened it was unbelievable. The celebrations on the pitch after were also great.
What are you up to now after finishing professional football?
I now work in a factory making upvc and aluminium windows, doors and conservatories. I still play football on a Sunday morning.
