Pleasure to be joined by a player who really needs no introduction, the luscious locked Cobblers midfielder with the caravanning habit-John-Joe O’Toole.
John-Joe was a key figure in the NTFC 2015/16 title winning season earning cult status among the shoe army with his dominant displays in the centre of the park. He talks us through his formative years at Watford, before moves to Colchester and Bristol Rovers and then finding “home” at Sixfields.
Things were far from straightforward though with O’Toole finding himself transfer listed and sent out on loan before staking his claim to a starting berth in the talented “Wilders Wonders” eleven that smashed League 2 with the backdrop of unpaid wages and financial crisis at the Cobblers. He also discusses the differing relations with managers at the club and his exit under Keith Curle.
There’s discussion of key games and players in that magic season including the killer move V Oxford where he took out four opponents with superb control of the ball.
Overall his story is one of mutual appreciation with the fans and it’s pleasing to hear JJ talk about his current success in League 1 with Burton and his thoughts on becoming a manager.
We got O’Toole…
