Richard Green

We were saddened to learn of the recent passing of former Northampton Town defender Richard Green.

Richard joined the Cobblers after being released by Walsall, with manager Kevin Wilson bringing him in following an injury to Lee Howey.

He made an immediate impact, scoring just eight minutes into his debut against one of his former clubs, Shrewsbury Town.

Richard went on to make 59 appearances for Northampton Town, scoring twice, and remained a regular member of the first team until his retirement in 2001.

He also represented Shrewsbury Town, Gillingham, Walsall and Rochdale during a career that saw him make over 400 professional appearances.

Everyone at Northampton Town Football Club & Cobblers Past sends their sincerest condolences to Richard’s family and friends at this sad time.

Rest in peace, Richard. ❤️
