Football fans around the football league are rallying in support of former striker Neil Grayson after it was revealed he has been diagnosed with Dementia. A fundraising campaign, launched via a JustGiving crowdfunding page for Neil Grayson, has quickly gathered momentum, with fans uniting to support a player whose made a great impact at the Cobblers.

Grayson arrived at the club in the early 1990s after spells in non-league football, he initially found life in the Football League challenging. But it was a moment of brilliance—a stunning 30-yard strike against Cambridge United—that turned his fortunes around.

From there, he became a key figure in the Cobblers push towards the play-offs, playing his part in a memorable run that led to a Wembley appearance against Swansea City.

Although he would leave the club before getting the chance to play at a higher level with the Cobblers, his contribution to that era remains fondly remembered.

News of his dementia diagnosis has struck a chord across the football community, particularly among those who watched him wear the claret and white.

His connection with the Cobblers supporters has never faded. That was evident when he returned to Sixfields as a player for Cheltenham Town, scoring in a 2–1 defeat but receiving one of the warmest ovations ever given to an opposition player.

The fundraiser aims to provide support for Grayson and his family as they come to terms with the challenges posed by the dementia diagnosis.
