Northampton ended the season in style as they came from behind to earn a crushing victory at mid-table rivals Oldham.

Andy Williams scored a brace for the Cobblers, who recorded only their second win in nine matches.

Oldham took an early lead when Callum Lang burst forward from deep and, after the ball broke loose, Johan Branger fired in off the post from 16 yards.

But Northampton’s fightback started after 22 minutes as the home defence failed to clear a set-piece and Sam Hoskins lashed a 20-yard drive into the top corner.

The visitors were in front just before the half-hour as Aaron Pierre headed home powerfully after Hoskins crossed from the right.

With Oldham in disarray, Williams made it 3-1 before the break when he converted from close range after Daniel Powell hit the woodwork.

Williams pounced again just after half-time by finishing neatly from Sam Foley’s cross, though Oldham responded when Branger struck the bar and Lang followed in to score.

Substitute Junior Morias had the final say after 80 minutes, rounding off a quick Northampton counter-attack to complete the rout.
